Acupuncture and Cystic Fibrosis

The Acupuncture Clinic

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening inherited disease, affecting over 10,000 people in the UK.  Living with cystic fibrosis can have a huge impact on daily life for a person and also for family and friends.

I provide acupuncture treatments to in-patients at the West Midlands Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre at Heartlands Hospital which is part of Heart of England, NHS Foundation Trust.

As acupuncture is a safe holistic treatment, it means that I’m not just using acupuncture points to manage and improve symptoms of Cystic Fibrosis, but I also use acupuncture to strengthen the overall physical body, improve mental health and to balance emotions all at the same time.

For example, I may use acupuncture to help the body to fight off infection, to manage pain, to improve sleep, to increase appetite and support digestion.  Or perhaps I may use points to reduce and manage anxiety, lift mood or to ease frustration.  Cystic Fibrosis can bring a host of challenging health issues but acupuncture can be an effective part of CF management.
